Lovely Linda

Updated: Jul 4

A behavioural assessment from Flo at www.flo4paws.co.uk

History: Linda was found dumped in woodland unfortunately and is an extremely sensitive dog.

Assessment on walk: Linda needed coaxing to get into my boot so that I was able to take her off site. Once we had arrived at the local woods, Linda needed a moment to process the environment and sniffed in the same area for several minutes. Linda was on a longline, to give her the freedom to choose where she wanted to go. Linda was happy to take high value treats tossed on the floor at a distance from me. Linda showed a preference for narrow overgrown paths, where it was impossible for me to walk, I gave her more line to explore while I stood still and eventually, she came back to me of her own accord. Linda showed noise sensitivity but as she gained more confidence in exploring the world around her the noises no longer bothered her and her tail moved from tucked between her legs to coming out. This walk was about sniffing not about distance as we covered just over a mile in 2 hours.

Potential adopter: Linda will need a quiet household with no young children and an adopter who is extremely calm as dogs pick up our energy. Her adopter will need to be extremely patient with her. Nose work would be hugely beneficial for her and help to build her confidence. Linda needs an adopter who has a lot of free time to support her at take things at Linda’s pace with no expectations.
